With more than $80 million in training and research grants, UMBC has solidified its place among our nations research universities as Carnegie has classified our institution as a Doctoral University with Higher Research activity. The future of our great Fraternity is at a cross roads and we must act now to improve, to evolve, and to define our existence for a successful future. America is failing these lower-income students; we must continue to elevate not just college readiness but the work we do on campuses to ensure these students succeed when they get here. There are other examples of more inclusive foundings that form all the parts of the Wake Forest story. Found is a verb, an action, not a single, set moment in some distant past. It is a time to honor our Across the universityacross all of our collegeswe seek to educate our students and advance research in areas that meet national and global needs. o How high do we want to go with enrollment? This hard work formed deep bonds and I still consider my fellow Xi-Iota Fraters my closest personal friends. Faculty are using technology to teach across borders from Portugal to India. Founders Day provides us the opportunity to reflect briefly on our university's history, to highlight important recent accomplishments, and to describe some of our vision for its future. o How high can we go with degree completion? Thats why Im proud of the important work being done by Wake Forests Slavery, Race, and Memory Project and particularly proud of our membership in the Universities Studying Slavery consortium. More than half of the states population then lived in the Baltimore metropolitan area. One year ago, no one could have anticipated that my tenure as Grand Prytanis would coincide with the challenges of a global pandemic. Instead, we should confront them. Founded on January 10, 1899, Tau Kappa Epsilon is one of the largest collegiate mens social fraternities in North America with over 297,000 initiated members and 218 active chapters.
